Underpunks prioritizes your gaming experience and fun above all. While our game assets are indeed based on the Wax blockchain, we handle all the wallet popups and blockchain contract signing. This approach streamlines your gameplay and optimizes resource usage within your Wax Wallet, ensuring your focus remains purely on the immersive world of Underpunks.
Underpunks broke ground on its virtual land packages in July 2021, unveiling vast regions of explorable space called SHIRES. These were initially acquired by four players in November 2021, kick-starting a roadmap that would enable LAND owners to place their territory within the six distinctive shires. Fast forward to 2023, and two more shire owners have joined the ranks. New T6 Patreon supporters can now stake a claim anywhere across the game’s solar system, from the multitude of celestial bodies to any one of the 200 million asteroids. However, these interstellar areas need to be discovered first and they are not all the same. With over two years’ worth of content to unearth, Underpunks has evolved into a robust, fully playable metaverse. Offering a deeply immersive simulation experience unlike any blockchain game currently available, Underpunks is a universe brimming with character and rich in narrative and roleplay.
Underpunks may not be a traditional TTRPG, but it draws significant inspiration from the genre and even innovates upon it. Here, your friends are always assembled in our Discord (virtually), with a BOT managing your daily actions. The GM only interviewing for specially triggered events. A comprehensive character sheet with ten skills is maintained for you on our routinely backed-up database. The majority of your gear, weapons, followers, and vessels are transferred to your Wax Wallet, empowering you to trade or sell them on the Atomic Hub marketplace. This fusion of classic RPG and modern blockchain technology creates an engaging, dynamic, and player-driven gaming experience.
The Underpunks DEV chose the Wax Blockchain due to its commitment to environmental sustainability. Unlike traditional energy-intensive blockchains, WAX operates on a proof-of-stake system, significantly reducing energy consumption. It’s the world’s first carbon-neutral blockchain, offsetting all its carbon emissions by investing in global renewable energy projects. Underpunks is mostly text-based and gameplay unfolds primarily through interactions with a Discord bot. You navigate the expansive universe by typing commands such as !north, !east, !south, or !west in your current map room (channel). Upon executing a command, your access to the previous room is replaced with the new room’s access. Each room has distinct slow mode timers, restricting immediate successive actions like !attack. These timers vary from a brisk one minute to a leisurely six hours, enabling you to tailor the gameplay to your pace by simply switching rooms. With over 100 distinct actions (commands) and a vast universe to traverse, Underpunks delivers an immersive adventure with years of gameplay to explore.
Unlike the “click and wait” gameplay typical of many NFT games, Underpunks embraces a scope as vast as the cosmos. Envision a colossal solar system teeming with explorable planets and moons, each with their own orbits. You can just sit in a quarry and mine OR jet off to any moon, reverse your buggy down the ramp, and traverse across 76 unique zones for exploration, mining, or thrilling combat. You can interact with more than 20 dynamic factions, shaping their political standings in the universe through strategic trading alliances or rivalries.

After playing the ZORK text adventure on a PDP-10 in 1981, Jaydz soon embarked on coding his own space game in BASIC on a TI-994a. But destiny entwined him into the fascinating realm of German wood carved marionettes.
In 1989, he raised the curtain on his own theatre company, immersing himself in an ocean of enchanting storytelling and vibrant character building for three decades.
Now, he brings this rich tapestry of experience to game development, breathing life into the Underpunks RPG with tantalizing nostalgia from the 80s and 90s.
Jaydz, along with his wife, have found their paradise on a picturesque island off the southern coast of Australia, where the lore of Underpunks continues to unfurl.
